GRATITUDE, DAY TO DAY
Can you say thank you ten times in one day?
A few simple ways to make each thank-you feel personal, and easy.
Some gratitude challenges ask you to give thanks every day for ten days. 10×10 asks something slightly different: ten thank-yous in a single day. It sounds like a lot, but it is easier than it seems. Here is what helps.
Before you go
Make your list of ten the evening before, and keep your ten 10-dirham notes somewhere easy to reach. Think of one thing you appreciate about each person. It does not need to be clever, only true.
In the moment
- Be specific. “Thank you for always keeping the lobby so clean” means more than a general thanks.
- Use their name if you know it, and ask if you don’t.
- Keep it short. A few warm words, eye contact and a smile are plenty.
- Try their language. Shukran, salamat, dhanyavaad, nandri, asante: a word in someone’s own language often lands straight in the heart.
- Hand the note with care, as a small gift rather than a tip, and respect it if someone prefers not to accept it.
Afterwards
Don’t share anyone’s picture without their permission. If the moment felt special, write it down, or tell the story on The Gratitude Wall. Then tap “10×10 completed” on the home page so we can see the gratitude grow.
